FAMILIES in Ashton-under-Lyne and beyond can give their wardrobes a seasonal boost at a community Christmas Jumper Swap.
Organised by the Friends of Waterloo Park, the eco-friendly festive event will take place on Friday, December 5.
From 3pm to 5pm at the Waterloo Park Centre on Store Street, adults and children can browse the rails and exchange a pre-loved Christmas jumper for a ‘new to you’ one.
Organisers say swapping isn’t essential as anyone is welcome to come along and take home an item for free.
As well as jumpers, the swap is also collecting Christmas dresses and children’s festive dress-up outfits, offering residents a low-cost and sustainable way to prepare for the season’s celebrations.
Ahead of the event, donations are also being accepted via Emma at Perry Jones Funeral Services on Oldham Road.
The initiative aims to ease financial pressures and reduce waste, as well as spreading some Christmas cheer.
As we reported recently, the Friends of Waterloo Park has received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a voluntary group.
