A DENTON bar and bistro is going all out to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice, with more than 2,000 poppies, a King’s Guard display and a special discount for NHS workers, Blue Light cardholders and veterans.
Aaron Schofield and his partner Daisy, owners of Vault 2, have transformed the entrance of their Manchester Road venue into a striking tribute ahead of Remembrance Sunday on November 8.

Having renovated the former bank building and opened in April 2024, the couple have made it their mission to create more than just a place to eat and drink, with community spirit at the heart of everything they do.
The display features an archway of thousands of poppies and a King’s Guard installation, positioned to welcome those taking part in Denton’s Remembrance parade after the idea came from wanting to show appreciation to local veterans and those who have served.
“Without the community, we wouldn’t be here. It’s 100 per cent about giving back. It’s investing into the community because they invest into you,” Aaron shared.
“When we ordered the poppies, there were over 2,000, including three big ones. I was actually a box short, believe it or not – we wanted to fill it a bit more!
“It looks great and I’m happy with it, especially with the King’s Guard as well.
“We thought, ‘How could we help? How could we support local veterans and everything people have done for us over the years?’ So we thought, ‘Let’s decorate outside and go from there.'”

Vault 2 is also offering 20 per cent off over Remembrance weekend for NHS workers, Blue Light cardholders and veterans, with Aaron hoping the tribute will become an annual tradition.
Denton’s central parade assembles outside West End Working Men’s Club at 10am, travelling through the town before reaching Victoria Park for a service at 10.55am.
Further commemorations will take place at St Mary’s Church in Haughton Green and Thornley Park.
As well as the delightful display, Vault 2 is preparing to open its brand-new rooftop terrace on Saturday, November 7, at 6:30pm.
The historic building, originally constructed in 1867 as Williams Deacon’s Bank, has also welcomed a wood-fired pizza oven and further renovations, which includes fixing up the original 1939 Turret Clock.

And with Christmas around the corner, plans are already underway to transform the basement, known as The Vault, into Santa’s Grotto, with Breakfast with Santa and little gifts for children.
“Everyone said to me, you’ll never get a rooftop terrace. We got it passed by planning and it opens Saturday. It’s going to be a massive launch,” Aaron added.
“It’s great for families and memories too.”
From remembering those who served to creating new experiences for local families, Aaron and Daisy are continuing to put Denton at the heart of their business.
And with thousands of poppies decorating the entrance, Aaron is confident visitors won’t miss them, telling The Correspondent: “You can’t miss us right now, especially with all the poppies!”
