A summer celebration at an Ashton-under-Lyne Conservative club has raised £180 for a charity supporting men’s mental health.
Waterloo and Taunton Conservative Club hosted its Summer Beach Party, bringing members together for an afternoon and evening of music, entertainment and fundraising.
The event featured cheesy party classics from DJ Alexx, along with cocktails, karaoke and fancy dress as members embraced the beach-themed celebrations.
Club stewardess Caroline Thistleton organised the event, bringing a taste of summer to the Ashton-under-Lyne club while also raising money for a worthwhile cause.
A raffle held during the party raised £180 for Mentell, a men’s mental health charity which provides free online and in-person support for men aged 18 and over.
Club chairman Leon Tamcken said the event was an opportunity for members to have fun while supporting a charity doing important work.
He said: “We wanted to bring some sunshine into the club, have a bit of fun, and also support a local charity. Thank you to everyone who came along.”
The entertainment continued into the evening, with members eventually taking part in a novelty dance line and conga around the club.
Organisers said the Summer Beach Party was a success, giving members the chance to socialise and enjoy an evening of entertainment while raising money to support men’s mental health.
