A newly formed board of volunteer directors behind Hyde Together CIC is preparing to launch a series of community events aimed at bringing more activity and visitors into Hyde town centre.
The organisation, which has recruited a largely new team of volunteer directors between April and June, has been gathering feedback from residents on how Hyde Market Place could be better used.
According to director Alison, a recent survey highlighted a clear appetite for more events in the market square, with residents suggesting activities such as makers’ markets and car boot sales.
The first event in Hyde Together’s programme will be a car boot sale at Hyde Market on Sunday, September 13, running from 9am until 1pm.
The event to provide bargain hunters, sellers and community groups with an opportunity to make use of the town’s central market space.
Car pitches are priced at £10, with bookings being taken via Hyde Together.
The car boot sale will be followed by SpookFest, a Halloween-themed event planned for Saturday, October 31, before the organisation rounds off the year with the Hyde Christmas Lights Switch-On, currently scheduled for Saturday, November 28.
While the three events form Hyde Together’s initial programme, directors say they are already looking ahead to additional activities in 2027, including the possibility of further car boot sales and other community-focused events, although details have yet to be finalised.
Alison said: “We are essentially a new board of volunteer directors, and are only just getting established. Following a quick survey, local people told us they wanted to see better use of Hyde Market Place, with suggestions including makers’ markets and car boot sales. We hope these events will be the start of a bigger programme for the town.”
Hyde Together CIC hopes the events will help create a more vibrant atmosphere in the town centre, support local residents and traders, and encourage greater use of Hyde Market Place.
