A PAIR of acclaimed one-act plays will return to Guide Bridge Theatre this summer as New to You Theatre brings its popular double bill back to Tameside.
Ancient and Modern and Last Bus to Whitby, written and directed by Martin Paul Roche, will be performed on Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8.
The production, which previously visited the venue in 2023, features actors Rachel Harrison and Mark Rosenthal in two separate monologue plays that explore life, reflection and the journeys people take – both physically and emotionally.
In Last Bus to Whitby, audiences meet Big Al, who is preparing for a trip he has dreamed of making for years.
Meanwhile, Ancient and Modern follows Stella as she waits for a taxi to take her to midnight mass, reflecting on life while wondering whether her cab will ever arrive.
Although centred around two very different journeys, both stories explore themes of self-discovery, courage and finding humour in life’s everyday moments.
The performances are being staged in support of community projects backed by the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester Mark Llewellin DL, who is a patron of the theatre.
