POLICE are appealing for information after a car which belonged to the late Hyde boxing legend Ricky Hatton was allegedly set on fire in Hattersley.
Officers were called to the incident at around 11.45pm on Monday (June 29) following reports that a car had been deliberately set alight.
The vehicle was parked outside the home of Campbell Hatton, son of former world champion boxer Ricky, who said he was left “absolutely gutted” after the incident.
Posting on Facebook, Campbell said: “On Monday night at around 11:40pm, my dad’s car got set on fire outside my house. [I have] CCTV of two lads, [it] looks like they came through the valley in Hattersley to do it so anyone with any info or cameras that might have caught anything let me know.
“Absolutely gutted, the car was one of the only things I’ve got that was my dad’s and a lot of sentimental stuff ruined. [I] need to get to the bottom of it, I have a seven-year-old daughter who stays here.”

Ricky, known around the world as ‘The Hitman’, was found dead at his home in Gee Cross on September 14 last year. The former world champion was 46.
Greater Manchester Police attended the scene, alongside crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and say they believe the fire was a targeted attack.
Officers have said there is no wider risk to the public, with no arrests made and enquiries ongoing.
Police are now asking anyone who was in the Sergeant Mark Stansfield Way area around the time of the incident, or who may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, to come forward.
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or use Greater Manchester Police’s LiveChat service, quoting log number 4273 of June 29, 2026.
Information can also be shared anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
