New Mossley café offers a warm welcome, a listening ear and companionship

A new community café is set to open its doors in Mossley this summer, offering local people a welcoming space to share memories, enjoy conversation and connect with others over a cup of tea.

Still Waters Café will launch on Tuesday, July 8, from 10am until noon at St John the Baptist Church, Carrhill Road, Mossley.

Although the café has been inspired by the need to support people who have experienced bereavement and loss, organisers have deliberately chosen the name Still Waters Café, as to open up their doors to anyone wether they are lonely or just want a brew and a chat.

They hope the more inclusive approach will encourage anyone who may benefit from companionship, conversation or simply being around other people to come along.

Still Waters Café opens in Mossley on July 8, offering a warm welcome, refreshments and companionship for anyone who would like company or conversation.

Organisers say the café is intended to be “a welcoming place to talk and remember”, but stress that there is no expectation or pressure for visitors to share personal experiences.

Instead, the aim is to provide a friendly, relaxed environment where people can chat, enjoy a brew and meet others in the community.

Following its launch, the café will meet on the second Wednesday of every month at St John the Baptist Church, from 10am until 12 noon.

Visitors are welcome to attend on their own or bring a friend, family member or neighbour. Refreshments will be available.

The initiative is being run by St John the Baptist Church as part of its commitment to supporting the local community and creating opportunities for people to connect with one another.

Anyone interested in attending is invited to come along to the opening session on July 8 and find out more about what Still Waters Café has to offer.
