More sporting success netted for Tameside

TAMESIDE’S next generation of netball talent has shown its quality by winning a prestigious tournament.

The borough’s under-12s side saw off dozens of competitors to come out on top in the Leeds Rhinos Challenge competition.

Not bad considering they started out with not even enough players for a team.

Clubs from all over the country attended Butlin’s in Skegness, Lincolnshire, to take part over the weekend of May 8-11.

After winning all four games on the Saturday, Tameside went through to the cup on the Sunday.

And after remaining undefeated on the Sunday, they ended up scoring a total of 122 goals and only conceding just 27.

Team manager Lucy Leicester said: “They fought so hard for the win and Tameside could not be prouder.

“Not only did they win they made memories to last a lifetime – and they are determined to keep improving.”
