The North Cheshire Unitarian Sunday School Union (NCUSSU) brought churches from across Tameside together on Saturday, May 9, for its 94th annual Arts and Crafts Exhibition, showcasing the creativity and talent of its young members.
Hosted this year by Old Chapel in Dukinfield, the long-running competition saw adults and young people from congregations in Denton, Dukinfield, Flowery Field and Stalybridge compete across 39 categories.
Entries ranged from baking and woodwork to solo singing and creative writing, with a full programme of live events taking place throughout the day.

Stalybridge emerged as the overall winners, taking home the prestigious Challenge Shield for the highest number of points overall, as well as the Primary Award for the highest children’s points tally.
Flowery Field won the Challenge Trophy, while Denton received both the Centenary Award for best choir performance and the Albert Slater Award for best senior play reading.
Organisers praised the high standard of entries and performances, as well as the strong support shown by members, families and volunteers throughout the event.
Special thanks were given to everyone who took part, the adjudicators, the hosts, and those who helped run the refreshments stall during the day.
A particular tribute was paid to NCUSSU Secretary Margaret Barber for her work in organising the exhibition and presenting prizes to the winners.
The participating churches said they continue to welcome new members and families to their congregations and Sunday Schools or young people’s groups.
