FAMILIES from across Tameside turned out in their thousands for a packed day of free entertainment as Stamford Park hosted its popular Spring Family Fun Day.
An estimated 5,000 people headed to the park, which sits on the Ashton-under-Lyne and Stalybridge border, to enjoy an afternoon of sunshine and activities.

With warm spring weather helping to draw the crowds, the event on Sunday, April 26, transformed the park into a lively scene of family fun, with children and adults taking part in everything from face painting and arts and crafts to climbing wall challenges and a birds of prey display.
One of the biggest attractions of the day was once again the RSPCA dog show, which proved a hit with animal lovers and families alike, with plenty of four-legged visitors also joining in the fun.

The event featured a wide range of local charities, community groups and council services, giving residents the chance to find out more about support and activities available across the borough.
Teams from libraries, culture, community safety and fostering were among those taking part, while public health staff were also on hand as part of the event’s smoke-free focus.
The annual family day has become a firm favourite in Tameside’s spring calendar, bringing communities together in one of the borough’s best-loved green spaces.
Organisers Tameside Council have thanked residents for helping make the day such a success.
