MOSSLEY AFC have secured a key piece of their attacking puzzle for next season after Mason Fawns agreed to extend his stay at Seel Park.
The talismanic forward, a firm favourite with supporters, will remain with the Lilywhites for the 2026/27 campaign.

The 27-year-old has racked up 51 goals in 149 appearances across his spells with the club – a consistency that has made him central to Mossley’s forward line.
Earlier this season, he reached his half-century in style, scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory at Newcastle Town – a strike that also saw him climb to 27th on the club’s all-time scoring list.
Manager Alex Craddock has repeatedly pointed to Fawns’ influence during his first season in charge, highlighting both the frontman’s technical ability and growing leadership.
Speaking in February, he told the club’s media team: “He’s a big moment player. He’s the one that drags you through moments. He creates opportunities, he scores goals out of nothing, and I think there’s just a different side to his game now – he’s driving and leading and pushing.”
Fawns has been deployed in multiple attacking roles, from a central number 10 position to wider areas, during his time with the Tameside outfit.
His current spell at Mossley began in the summer of 2024, marking a return to familiar surroundings after a season on the move. Following his initial departure ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, he featured for Bootle and Kidsgrove Athletic, making 31 appearances and scoring five goals for both teams.
It was during his first stint with Mossley, however, that he truly established himself, finishing the 2022/23 season as the club’s top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions – eight clear of his nearest team-mate – and earning the division’s Young Player of the Year award.
Before making his mark at Seel Park, Fawns also gained experience with Oldham Athletic and Curzon Ashton among other teams.
His decision to stay comes as Mossley look to finish the current campaign strongly. They sit ninth in the table heading into their final game on Saturday, chasing a third successive victory.
Craddock’s side will travel to Bootle – one of Fawns’ former clubs – where the hosts are still pushing for a play-off place, sitting just one point outside the top five.
