A long-serving headteacher in Tameside is set to step down later this year after being appointed to a new role.
Sheldon Logue will leave St Damian’s RC Science College in Ashton-under-Lyne to become headteacher at Saddleworth School from September 2026.

Mr Logue has led St Damian’s for several years, overseeing a significant transformation in standards and performance.
During his tenure, the school moved from requiring special measures to achieving two consecutive ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings in 2017 and 2023.
The school also received a Pearson National Teaching Award in 2025, recognising its achievements under his leadership.
In addition to his role at St Damian’s, Mr Logue has also served as Executive Headteacher at St Anne’s RC High School, where he supported rapid improvements in standards.
His departure marks the end of a successful period for the Ashton school, with staff, pupils and the wider community expected to bid farewell ahead of the new academic year.
Further details about leadership arrangements at St Damian’s are expected to be confirmed in due course.
