RESIDENTS at a care home in Audenshaw were left quacking with delight after an unexpected visitor waddled in and brightened their day.
Guide Lane Care Home welcomed a very special guest when Care Assistant Josh Hauge brought along his duckling, Lucky, for a surprise visit.
The fluffy newcomer quickly became the centre of attention, as residents enjoyed gentle cuddles, shared smiles and plenty of laughter.
For many, the visit stirred fond memories of past pets and countryside life, sparking conversations that carried on long after Lucky had made her rounds.
Staff said the atmosphere was noticeably lighter, with residents clearly taking the visit in their stride – or rather, their webbed step.
Animal visits are known to lift spirits and encourage social interaction, and Lucky proved to be no exception. The duckling seemed right at home as residents queued up for a chance to say hello.
Josh said: “I could see straight away how happy Lucky made everyone. The residents absolutely loved meeting her and it was lovely to watch their faces light up. Bringing a bit of joy into their day really means a lot to me.”
Home Manager Charlotte Heathcote said the visit perfectly reflected the home’s ethos, adding: “Moments like this really show the caring, family-style atmosphere we have here at Guide Lane.
“Josh’s thoughtful gesture brought so much happiness to our residents, and it’s wonderful to see how small, meaningful experiences can make such a big difference to their day.”
Staff at the home are always on the lookout for simple but meaningful ways to enrich daily life for residents, and Lucky’s visit certainly fit the bill.
