A STALYBRIDGE bingo club ended up giving out a Christmas present to remember as one of its players won a £50,000 jackpot.
Cosmo, which stands next to the town’s bus station, was abuzz when a lucky customer’s numbers came up.
And the 22-year-old, known only as Ryan, brought the house down after filling his on the National Bingo Game.
The local lad only decided at the last minute to join his mother, sister and girlfriend for some festive fun at his local club on Christmas Eve afternoon.
And the number 22 proved especially lucky — not only is it Ryan’s age, but it was also the winning number on the night.
Ryan said: “I couldn’t believe it when all my numbers came up.
“It was a last-minute decision to come along for some festive fun and I was completely shocked — I was absolutely speechless.
“I’m going to put the money into savings, and it’s definitely made this the best Christmas ever.
“I only come to bingo a couple of times a year, but I’ll certainly be coming more often now!
“Everyone in the club started clapping and cheering. If you’ve never played before, go for it — you’ve got to be in it to win it!”
Keith Lee, who was the manager on duty at Cosmo Bingo Stalybridge, could not believe what had happened.
He said: “It was brilliant to see one of our customers scoop the £50,000 jackpot, especially at that time of year.
“The atmosphere in the club was electric, and everyone was absolutely delighted for Rylan.
“He certainly made the right decision to come along on Christmas Eve — we couldn’t be happier for him.”
