A fun-filled way to highlight support for young people in Tameside

A SPECIAL event this month in Hyde is open to young people across Tameside, with a focus on supporting their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

It aims to open up conversations around mental health, promote emotional resilience, and highlight the help available locally to them and their support network.

Organised in partnership with Tameside Council and the NHS, a range of expert services will be brought together, offering advice, information and support.

These include mental health support teams, sexual health support, drug and alcohol support, and Active Tameside.

There will be interactive activities – such as yoga, face painting, hair braiding and biscuit decorating – to get involved with.

The free-to-attend event at Hyde Town Hall is on Thursday, August 21, from 11am to 3.30pm.

“It’s great to see important conversations sparking around mental health and wellbeing,” said Councillor Teresa Smith, Executive Member for Children and Families.

“This event sounds like a fantastic way to go about it and raise awareness to the support available in Tameside.

“A big well done to the Care Leavers’ Forum and Children in Care Council members for suggesting this event, which is going to make a huge difference to children and young people in Tameside.

“Although this is a serious topic, this awareness event is intended to be fun-filled and will be a day full of connectivity, inspiration, support and joy.”
