SHOPPERS at the Ladysmith Centre in Ashton-under-Lyne have been left disappointed after the removal of the beloved North Pole post box, following acts of vandalism.
The festive feature, which allowed children to send their letters to Santa, has been deemed unsafe to remain in place.
In a statement, the Ladysmith Centre confirmed, “Unfortunately, the box is no longer safe to keep in place. As a result, we will no longer be able to accept Letters to Santa.”
The removal has sparked frustration among shoppers, with one commenting, “It’s coming to something when you can’t even have something to give kids a bit of joy because mindless vandals can’t leave it alone. The thing is, they won’t even feel bad for it—they’ll just think it’s funny.”
