Hyde Councillor joins forces with Masonic Lodges to boost Tameside Toy Appeal

HYDE Godley Councillor Andrea Colborne has teamed up with local Masonic Lodges to support the Tameside Council Toy Appeal.

The fundraising initiative was spearheaded by Bro. Michael Conroy, with assistance from Bro. Dennis Connor from the Masonic Lodge at Oaklands Hall.

These efforts resulted in a significant donation of toys, ensuring children in the Tameside area experience the joy of unwrapping a present on Christmas morning.

Sharing the success, Councillor Colborne stated:

“What an amazing effort! Over £1,200 was raised across two Masonic halls, from lodges in the Hyde and Dukinfield area coming together to make a difference. The funds went towards buying lots of toys for children of all ages!”

The Oaklands Hall team, who had already committed to supporting the Dukinfield-based charity End Result, expanded their efforts with assistance from Councillor Colborne.

The Tameside Toy Appeal is an annual initiative run by Tameside Council and Action Together, to ensure that every child in the borough experiences the magic of Christmas, no matter their circumstances.

Last year, the appeal made a significant impact, delivering gifts to over 1,000 children and young people in need. Additionally, the generosity of local supporters helped raise £5,000 to purchase even more toys.
