A HIGHLY successful Denton Scouts group has put out the call for more volunteers to inspire its members.
After opening its second troop because of popular demand, 4th Denton is now looking for leaders to take them forward.
It can be a knot-tying extraordinaire, an avid storyteller or someone who loves to see young minds thrive.
With more than 36 children – boys and girls aged between 10-and-a-half and 13-years-old – taking part, 4th Denton encourages them to ask the bigger questions, think on their feet, be part of a team and always have a plan B up their sleeves.
A spokesperson for the group said: “As Scout leaders, we offer young people opportunities they may not get elsewhere.
“I enjoy seeing scouts in my ever-expanding troop grow and develop as young people and knowing that I have played a part in that, it is a great feeling.
“But they are not the only ones learning something new. Whether it is helping groups who are struggling on a hike, delivering first aid or planning a programme, lots of skills I have learnt have helped me develop in my work life.”
Earlier this summer, the 4th Denton Scouts, Explorers and adult volunteers even attended the Essex International Jamboree, where young people and leaders alike experience a massive camp of more than 6,000 Scouts from all over the world, meeting new people from worldwide locations and make new friends, with some of them continuing long after the Jamboree.
