Tameside mosque to open its doors to the community

A MOSQUE in Ashton-under-Lyne is opening its doors to the local community so that people can understand more about the Islamic faith.

Ashton Central Mosque is giving people the opportunity to explore the place of worship on Hillgate Street.

Those of any faith or no faith are invited on Saturday, September 28, from 11am to 3pm.

There will be a live prayer at 2pm and a Quran recitation.

During the free event, organisers hope to “clear up misconceptions” and give people the chance to “meet new people” and “bring communities together”.

Refreshments will also be available to visitors.

It’s part of ‘Visit My Mosque’ organised by Muslim Council of Britain, taking place over the weekend and the theme is Sharing Stories.

More than 200 mosques across the country now take part in this open day initiative, which first took place in 2015.

People can register their interest in attending Ashton Central Mosque on the day by clicking here.
