TAMESIDE College apprentices Lucy Yelland and Ben Love have clinched prestigious Medallions for Excellence at the WorldSkills finals held in Lyon, France, for their outstanding abilities in mechatronics.
Lucy and Ben, who are employed by Siemens UK and undergo training at Tameside College, were awarded the Medallions for Excellence after achieving an impressive 700 points or reaching the world standard in their category.
The WorldSkills competition is renowned for its rigorous standards and brings together top talent from across the globe in various vocational fields.
Jackie Moores, Principal and CEO of Tameside College, expressed her pride in Lucy and Ben’s achievements, stating, “Lucy and Ben continue to exemplify the highest standards of Tameside College. The WorldSkills finals are fiercely competitive, and their recognition by the judges at such a high level is truly commendable. We eagerly anticipate welcoming them back to the college, adorned with their latest accolade.”
Skills Minister Jacqui Smith commended all participants of the WorldSkills competition, highlighting their talent and dedication. “Everyone competing in WorldSkills has demonstrated their potential as future leaders and innovators.”
Tameside College is set to host the WorldSkills UK national finals, scheduled for the week commencing Monday, November 18.
