A PUB in Denton has made it through to the semi-finals of the Licensee of the Year Awards.
The Fletchers Arms has progressed in the national competition – run by the British Institute of Innkeeping – designed to find and celebrate the country’s top establishments.
Vicki, Director and Business Partner at the Stockport Road pub, and Zac, General Manager, were announced as quarter-finalists from a pool of 300 applicants.

Since then, the pub was visited by a professional mystery diner and received excellent feedback.
“The venue has a lovely atmosphere, which I would feel comfortable visiting with friends and family of all ages, including children,” a report stated.
“I noted that the venue was dog friendly, which would appeal to my friends and family. The menu options, both for food and drinks, were varied, offering options to suit specific dietary requirements. Pricing seemed reasonable, particularly as the food portions were large.”
Vicki and Zac have now been shortlisted to a group of 12 hopefuls and will soon be visited by the top judges, before discovering if they have reached the finals.

Mr Almond, Vicki’s father and Chairman of Almond Family Pubs, says he has always been proud of their longest-standing pub.
“As Business Partner, Vicki takes a special interest, having run it herself so successfully for many years. Zac has made a tremendous difference in his time as Manager at the Fletchers and with the stunning new refurbishment, it really has been their year.
“We have everything crossed to go all the way to the finals!”
