Tameside Council Election Candidates: Ashton Waterloo

Lee Huntbach (Green)

AS A former Green Party Councillor, I am proud to stand again for the people of Ashton Waterloo.

As an elected Councillor, I consistently challenged Labour to improve performance and provide value in the face of government cuts.

I do not think yearly, maximum council tax hikes are necessary or fair.

My bid to ban the use of deadly pesticides and transform grass verges into wildflower verges would have saved thousands of pounds and had widespread appeal.

The benefits in reduced costs and enhanced habitat for wildlife is a win/win for the budget as well as the environment.

If elected, l would continue to challenge the council on this issue.

I created the ‘Waterloo Wombles’ before my election and have since raised funds to establish the ‘Junior Wombles.’

This programme helps young people improve fitness and encourage community spirit.

As the only Ashton Waterloo Councillor to attend every full council and police and community meeting in their four years tenure, my commitment is clear.

Sangita Patel (Labour)

ONCE again, I am honoured to have been selected as the Waterloo Ward Labour party candidate for the Local Election on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

I have a proven record of being proactive in Waterloo and you often see me doing a litter pick with Waterloo Action.

I have been elected as the Chair of the Waterloo Park Centre and I am proud of the community initiatives that have already been delivered with more to come.

I serve as Assistant Executive Member for Culture and Digital Inclusivity. I have led the team which delivered the successful Christmas Lantern Parade in Ashton, which attracted 2,000 people to the town centre.

Despite the government cuts, I will fight to bring a fair share of investment into the ward.

I am sincerely grateful to Waterloo residents for electing me and I would ask that you vote for me again on Thursday, May 2.
