THEY say that age is just a number and a dog rehoming centre in Denton is hoping to prove just that.
With Valentine’s Day approaching and more than 70 pooches currently in their care, the team at Dogs Trust Manchester is hoping their oldest and youngest pets will find some love in the shape of new owners.
Ready to find his paw-fect match is nine-month-old Rex. The German Shepherd Cross is the youngest resident currently at the centre on Parkway, where he has been for two months.
A boisterous boy who loves toys and food, he’s looking for owners who can improve his skills. A strong dog, he will need adults to walk him but can live with children aged 15 or over.
In contrast, Rascal is now 12 and first arrived at Dogs Trust in December 2021 after illness in the family looking after him meant they could no longer look after him.
The Denton-based team initially thought they had found the older age pooch a new home but he found himself back at the centre last summer.
Always ready for an adventure, Rascal has learnt lots of tricks over the years and will happily show them off in return for a treat. He can live with children aged eight and over.
He reacts to dogs so would prefer to not have any neighbouring dogs and prefers to be walked in quieter areas.
Dogs are often at the heart of families and the Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester hopes both Rex and Rascal can find loving new homes.
“Rex and Rascal may be years apart in age but in many ways they are quite similar,” Lisa Eardley explained.
“They are both friendly, full of energy, love an adventure, great fun and have huge, irresistible personalities. Also, both can live with children but they would like to be the only dog in their new homes so they can have their family’s undivided attention.
“So, whether you want a young dog or an older pooch, we would love to find both Rex and Rascal the loves of their lives this Valentine’s Day.”
