ANYONE who wants to be a part of organising the return of Denton Carnival is being invited to an Annual General Meeting.
It will take place on Thursday, February 1, at Gibson’s Dance Academy on Bowden Street, starting at 7pm.
The Correspondent reported in November that Denton MP Andrew Gwynne and local councillors called on community support in a bid to save the town’s summer tradition, which hasn’t happened for several years for various reasons.
An initial steering group meeting was arranged at The Little Chap pub in Haughton Green earlier this month, which MP Gwynne said proved to be useful.
Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton & Reddish, and member of the Steering Committee, said:
“Denton Carnival gives so much to our local community, but it can only do so thanks to the dedication and hard work of volunteers.
“Formalising the work of the committee at the AGM will ensure we can start putting concrete plans in place to deliver a fantastic carnival in 2024 after years of disruption.
“Time is fast ticking away, and I would urge any of those who want to get stuck in to come and join us!”
