Rescue dog’s 18-month wait for new home in the country

IT’S not just humans who want to escape to the country – dogs do too!

A rehoming centre in Denton is searching for a rural home for a rescue dog who only likes cars if he’s in one heading off on an adventure.

Manny, a three-year-old Sharp Pei Cross, has been at Dogs Trust Manchester since the summer of 2022.

He’s still waiting for his furry-tail ending, which would be away from the hustle and bustle of urban life.

“Manny does not like vehicles so his ideal home is definitely in the country where passing cars and lorries are few and far between,” said Lisa Eardley, Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester.

“When he first arrived, Manny didn’t like getting in a car but that has all changed, thanks to our training team. Now he loves it so, whenever he gets off site, it’s into the car and off we go to quieter areas and secure fields so he can have a fantastic run around, which is lovely to see.”

The team at the centre on Parkway say Manny is “full of character” and loves to snuggle up and be made a fuss of.

Playful Manny is hoping he will meet his special someone very soon

They add that Manny, who has been muzzle trained, is comfortable with calm dogs when out and about so new owners will need to help him build confidence around four-legged friends.

As he can be quite boisterous, an adult-only home with no visiting children is recommended.

“We always work hard to match each individual dog to the right person and we are confident that when the right person meets Manny, he will steal their heart, just like he has stolen ours.”
