A YOUNG cub in Ashton-under-Lyne is celebrating after overcoming several challenges to earn a special award.
Elliot, from Cubs at 12th Ashton Scout Group, was recently presented with his Chief Scout Silver Award.
It was a proud moment for the youngster, his family and the Scout group based at Richmond Street Community Centre.
Cub Scout Leader Jane Rogers said: “It’s really satisfying to see him progress and he is due to go up to Scouts in April.
“He had earned six activity badges of his choice like outdoor challenge skills, world challenges and teamwork to name a few.”
Michael Frankish, Assistant District Commissioner, congratulated Elliot for his hard work to gain a Silver as he handed over the youngster’s award.
He also thanked all the leaders at 12th Ashton Scout Group for their help and support of all young people.
Mr Frankish went on to say there will be more badges earned at a celebration camp in August, which marks 50 years of the formation of North Tameside Scout District.
Anyone who would like to help young people in Scouting to gain more badges can get in touch with Alan Fish at alan.fish@ntscouts.org.uk or 07931 765 120.
