VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help tend to trees in a Stalybridge community as part of a national celebration.
City of Trees is holding a tree maintenance day in Ridge Hill on Wednesday, November 29, to mark National Tree Week.
Each year, the country’s conservation sector, volunteer groups and tree-lovers join forces at the start of tree-planting season.
City of Trees, the community forest for Greater Manchester, are looking for volunteers to come along to tend to young trees that have previously been planted on the site on Arlies Lane, to help give them the best chance to grow into strong and resilient woodlands.
All are welcome to join the session, led by City of Trees’ experienced staff, between 10am and 3pm for as long as people can spare.
All equipment will be provided, so volunteers just need to come along in weather-suitable outdoor gear.
