IT was a chance to reminisce about old times at a reunion of former Stalybridge Celtic greats.
The event was organised by Paul Mather, the only Celtic player to win three league titles with the Bower Fold club.
It took place at the home league game against Morpeth having originally been arranged as the September 10 game against Nantwich Town was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The idea was to bring back the former players for a celebration to mark the refurbishment of the sponsors’ lounge at the club.
Legendary former manager Peter Wragg, ex-secretary John Hall and Steve Waywell attended, despite having health issues.
Other players there were Kevin Crumblehulme, captain of the 1979/80 Cheshire County League title-winning side; prolific goalscorer Kevan Keelan, Bob Barrass, Billy Ash, Barry Lord, Dave Bourne, Alec Davies, Dave Stewart, Colin Booth, Peter Morgan, Peter Coutts and Paul Garside.
Another favourite, striker Colin Skillen, had been due to attend but was admitted to hospital the previous night.
