DENTON Town’s recent “blip” in form, which coincided with an ever-lengthening injury list, is over following an emphatic 4-0 home win against Sandbach United Reserves on Saturday, October 22.
The Whittles Park side, previously without a win in four matches in Cheshire Football League, division one, have had an many as seven players out, including the core of the side.
And once the injuries clear as they are starting to do, manager Darren Seville is confident his team will return to the form which saw it win its first seven games to become runaway league leaders of division one.

“If somebody had said towards the end of September, we would be second in the table, I would have snapped off their hand,” he said.
“During our good run in August and September, we played a lot of games and were injury free.
“We then picked up six or seven injuries, including key players, in a couple of weeks which hit us hard. Had they been spread out over the season we would have been able to cope better.
“It has been a blip, but we have a good group of players and, if we stick together, we will come good again.”
In their poor run, Town were also well beaten 5-2 at lower division Stretford Paddock in the Manchester FA Saturday Challenge Trophy.
On top of injuries, Town also claim they have been not enjoying the rub of the green with important decisions in games.
They point to the 1-0 defeat at Billinge where they claimed the home side’s match-winning goal did not cross the line, and they have photos which they say proves their case.
Town have a big match on Saturday, October 29 as they visit Vulcan as the second and third placed teams meet.
- What a crazy couple of results for Town’s reserve side.
They followed an 8-1 win against Boothstown Bullets Under-21s in the Manchester FA Saturday Amateur Cup with a 10-3 home defeat to Middlewich Reserves in a league match.
They covered from the hefty loss with a 2-1 win at Eagle Sports Reserves in the league on Saturday, October 22.
