Jubilee Fair brings fun to Ravensfield Primary

THERE was fun, games and treats galore at a Jubilee Fair at Ravensfield Primary School in Dukinfield.

The event was the first community occasion held by the school since the Covid-19 pandemic and raised £915.87 which will be reinvested into the children.

There were traditional fair games for children and adults alike to enjoy, including a coconut shy, penalty shoot-out, hook a duck and guess the weight of the cake.

Teachers, staff and PTFA members all helped out on the stalls, including face painting by acting head Mrs Dawson while Mr Pugh, acting assistant headteacher, manned the book stall.

There was a host of other stalls selling sweets and gifts, with everything costing just 20p to £1, and entertainment was provided by Ravensfield Dancers.

Mrs Dawson said: “It is the first fair we have had for years because of Covid and it has been a real community affair.

“Look at the number of children, parents and friends here because they have all come to support us as we’ve not been able to do it for so long.

“We are really pleased with the amount raised given most things cost between 20p to £1. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day.”

A delighted parents commented: “I wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff/parents who helped to organise and run their fair – what a great afternoon.

“It was so lovely to see the children so happy and having lots of fun.”

Kind donations for the fair were made by local businesses Empire Popcorn, Donna McKenzie Crafts, Full of Beans, Aroma Belle and the Village Hotel.
