Snooker league events are at last-four stage

THE Stalybridge Snooker League’s Berry and Taylor Cup competitions are at the second semi-final stages.

In the Berry Cup for snooker and billiards, Mossley B lead Staly Vegas 5-2 and Hyde Club are 4-3 ahead against St Peter’s.

In the Taylor Cup for whist, Mossley B have already qualified for the final and await the winners of Hyde Club and Staly Labour. Hyde lead 135-125 with one match to play.

Both the individual billiards and snooker competitions are also at the semi-final stage.

In the snooker, Kevin McIntosh plays Chris Tipping and Kevin Dooley tackles Dan Tipping while in the billiards Mike Hallam plays Andrew Betts and Steve Malkin takes on Kevin McIntosh.

Matches are to be played over next four weeks.

The darts league still has a few games to play before it finishes and Malkin is in pole position, closely followed by Ian Carter.

The other darts knockouts have been completed and Malkin beat Carter in the round-the-board final and overcame Bob Carter in the 501 final to make it a double success.

The league was, regrettably, unable to play the whist drive and this have been postponed until next season.

All the competitions are scheduled to be finished by July 21.
