THE Hyde, Oldham & District Sunday Football League has crowned its league champions as well as witnessing four excellent cup finals, two at Boundary Park and the others at Bower Fold, Stalybridge.
Organ and Bower Fold both reached finals of differing North East Cheshire Cups, both losing in the final, but nevertheless it was great recognition for the league.
The premier division proved to be very competitive with the title not decided until the final week with Limeside King George crowned champions and Fox Tavern runners-up.
FC Newbarn clinched the title in division one with Royton Raptors runners up.
Shaw Athletic Vets beat AFC Chadderton 3-0 in a winner takes all game for the title in the final game of the season in division two.
Limeside King George claimed more silverware winning the Challenge Cup at Boundary Park where they won the final 3-2 against the Fox Tavern, despite going down to 10 men in the first 10 minutes due to a professional foul.
They went in with a 3-0 half time lead, all three goals coming from Jack Ward. Fox pulled two back in the second half through Danny McLaughlin, but they fell just short.
Roe Cross Simmondley retained the Rose Bowl at Boundary Park with a 6-1 victory over AFC Limeside with goals from Karl Farrell (2), Josh Stevenson, Ryan Humphreys, Mike Page and Jamie Redmond, James Winterbottom replying for Limeside who were 5-1 behind at half time.
Limeside King George’s dream of the treble was ended in the final of the Reporter Cup at Bower Fold with Organ winning 3-1 after both teams had been reduced to 10 men. Organ’s goals came from Tom Beswick (2) and Jon Sarcevic with Liam Cashmore getting Limeside’s goal.
