Smith, who only stepped into the winning team at short notice after the original pro pulled out two days before departure through Covid-related issues, finished runner-up in the competition for professionals.

The event was organised by local golfer Steven Moores whose company Majestic Coffee and Holidays4Golfers were the organisers while Chris Hey from Stalybridge-based Total Rope Solutions was one of the main sponsors of the event.

For Chris Exton and Adam Wells, it was not their first pro-am success.

Back in October, they were part of the winning Stamford team in the Highlands Golf Links Pro-Am.

They were joined by Anthony Cavanagh and former European Tour player Matt Nixon for the event which was played over three courses, Castle Stuart, Royal Dornock and Nairn.
