MOSSLEY AFC Running Club members have been getting back into their stride as midweek runs restarted and more races were back on the calendar after Covid-19.
One of the more popular races for members, Mad Dog 10K, took place in Southport and was completed by Shaun Mason (46:18), Fay Hopwood (58:25), Claire Meyer (1:01:10), Hayley McAffer (1:06:40), Shannon Gill (1:13:33), Lorraine Gibbs (1:20:48) and Claire Bent (1:26:38).
Angela Wood (59:27) also completed the run with her son Daniel who was running his first 10K.
In Stockport, the inaugural running of the Sports Feet Daffodil 10k attracted a field of more than 800 runners. Mossley’s Adam Battersby finished 86th in 42:17.
On the same weekend, the Meltham 10K saw running couple Tom Smith (47:01) and Emma Bowen (47:40) both secure top-three age category positions with Emma claiming victory in the women’s V50 category.
Mossley members have also appeared at parkrun events far and wide this month with Ed Law completing his 100th parkrun event at Worsley Woods.
The South East Lancashire cross-country season is reaching its climax with the penultimate event taking place at Heaton Park.
The men’s race was completed by Anthony Shepard (50:05), Mark Hanlon (50:19) and Paul Anderson (55:01) and these results placed them 14th in the team competition.
The women were also represented by Selina McLean (41:22) who lies ninth in her age category going into the final fixture in March.
