Local helpline for Covid-19 vaccination now open

A NEW, dedicated, local helpline for the Covid-19 vaccination in Tameside and Glossop is now open.

Information on the vaccines, details of local clinics, and support with booking is available by calling 0161 368 5426 from 8.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The helpline will give those without online access a simple and quick route to booking a jab or getting information on the vaccines while relieving pressures on GP practices.

In the first instance, the easiest and most efficient way of getting information, such as details of local clinics including pop-ups and walk-ins, is to visit www.tameside.gov.uk/covidvaccine.

If you can’t get online and need information on the Covid-19 vaccination or to book a jab, simply call the new helpline. Individual medical advice will not be given.

All 12 to 15-year-olds are being offered one dose of the Pfizer jab in a schools-based vaccination programme, following advice from the UK’s chief medical officers that the jab will help reduce disruption to education.

And booster jabs will be offered from 27 September to over-50s, frontline health and social care workers, younger adults with health conditions and adult household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals. A Pfizer jab will be given at least six months after a second dose. Those eligible are being contacted directly and are strongly encouraged to book their appointment as soon as they are invited to ensure they remain protected over the winter months.

Alternatively, you can book a jab at the mass vaccination centres by visiting www.nhs.uk/coronavirus-vaccination or by calling 119.
