IT was fitting that a footballer called Ace should score the winning goal in the Aces Nationals.
Ace Norton hit a screamer from 25 yards in the final as Manchester Corinthians defeated Loughborough 2-1 in the final.
Ace and Henry Wood, students at Mossley Hollins High School and former players at Stalybridge Celtic Juniors, were members of the team which became the first from Manchester to win the prestigious Under-13s tournament at Nottingham.
Corinthians, the East Manchester Junior Football League champions, were unbeaten in five group games, winning three and drawing two.
They beat a team from West Bromwich 3-0 in the quarter final, opponents from Eastbourne in the semi and Loughborough in the final.
Ace, 12, a former pupil at Micklehurst All Saints, is a centre back but was playing central midfield when he scored the winning goal.
Henry, 12, is a winger from Top Mossley and an ex-pupil at Milton St Johns, He also play for Tameside Boys on a Saturday.
