Audenshaw pub invites community to honour loved ones with Remembrance poppy wall

AN AUDENSHAW pub is inviting residents to pay tribute to loved ones and those who served their country with a special Wall of Remembrance.

The Queens Arms has created a poppy wall alongside its mural of the late Queen Elizabeth II, encouraging members of the community to leave personal messages throughout the first two weeks of November.

Visitors are invited to write a prayer, memory or heartfelt tribute to someone they wish to remember before pinning it to the display.

The initiative aims to bring people together ahead of Remembrance Sunday on November 8 and Armistice Day on November 11, while honouring those who lost their lives in conflict.

In a message to the community, the pub said: “Throughout the first two weeks of November, we invite the local community to stand together in pride, gratitude and remembrance at our Wall of Remembrance, beside our mural of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”

It added: “Write a prayer or heartfelt message for a loved one and pin it to our poppy wall, creating a powerful tribute to those who served, sacrificed and gave so much for the freedoms we cherish today.”

The display provides an opportunity for residents to remember family members, friends and members of the Armed Forces, with each message contributing to a collective tribute.

The Queens Arms concluded its appeal with the traditional words of remembrance: “At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we forget.”

The Wall of Remembrance will remain in place during the first fortnight of November, with members of the public welcome to contribute.
