HUNDREDS turned out to support a local tractor run which has helped raise vital funds for the future of Mottram Shows.
Tractor owners travelled from across the region to take part in Mottram and District Agricultural Society’s Tractor Run.
Enthusiasts made the journey from Saddleworth, Buxton, New Mills, Macclesfield and beyond for the event, which brought together an impressive mix of vintage and modern tractors.
Despite a last-minute change to the planned route on Sunday, October 4, spectators had the chance to admire the vehicles at Mottram Showground before the convoy set off, with another opportunity to see the tractors later at Lymefield Garden Centre.

The event is among the fundraising activities helping the volunteer-run Society raise money to stage its popular agricultural shows and build on the success of this year’s events.
Adrienne Taylor, Secretary of Mottram and District Agricultural Society, said: “Mottram Show has been running since 1904, and fundraising events like the Tractor Run help ensure this long-standing local tradition continues for future generations.
“The Society would like to thank everyone who took part, came along to watch, volunteered their time or supported the event through donations. The fantastic support, particularly following the last-minute route change, was greatly appreciated.”

The Society is looking ahead to 2027, with the dates already confirmed for next year’s Mottram Shows: Sunday, May 2, and Sunday, August 22.
Organisers are keen to build on this year’s success and are encouraging more people to get involved as preparations begin.

The Society is entirely volunteer-run, with members giving up their time alongside work and other commitments to keep the shows and fundraising events going.
There are opportunities to become a Society member and help organise the shows, volunteer on show day or support the events through business sponsorship.
