AN ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE hotel will have two padel courts situated next to it if planning permission is granted.
Bosses at the Village, at Ashton Moss, hope to place the facility between its current building and the M60 motorway.

And documents supporting the application believe it will only add to what it has to offer.
Each will be of standard dimension – 20 metres by 10 metres – and would be enclosed by purpose-designed fencing and capped by a low-profile canopy.
Paperwork states: “The proposed padel courts form a small-scale, ancillary leisure enhancement, intended to diversify and future-proof the hotel’s recreational offer, in line with growing demand for modern, accessible sports facilities.
“Padel is a rapidly expanding racket sport in the UK, the proposed development will allow the Village Hotel to meet this demand by providing high-quality, weather-resilient courts capable of year-round use, available to hotel guests and wider users via managed booking arrangements.”
Padel’s popularity has swept the nation and nearby Ashton Cricket Club has permission to install its own facility.
And the courts’ location, next to the motorway, means they will not result in unacceptable noise or disturbance.
Documents add: “Taken together, the proposals will enhance the range of leisure facilities available at the Village Hotel and contribute positively to the economic vitality and recreational offer of the area without giving rise to adverse planning impacts.”
Tameside Council’s Speaker’s Panel (Planning) committee, or officers, will decode whether to rant or refuse permission.
