Ashton United supporters to take on 30-mile sponsored walk

A GROUP of Ashton United supporters is swapping the stands for the streets as it prepares to take on a gruelling over 30-mile sponsored walk.

Members of the Ashton United FC Supporters Club will set off from Hurst Cross Stadium at 8pm on Friday, October 9, beginning an overnight trek through the night to reach Leek Town’s F. Ball Community Stadium in time for the 3pm kick-off on Saturday, October 10.

Ashton United supporters are to walk the 30 miles to the fixture with Leek town to raise funds.

The challenge is being organised as part of the its latest fundraising effort, with money raised also going towards Ashton United in the Community, the club’s community charity.

Walkers will leave Hurst Cross in the evening and make their way towards Leek, Staffordshire.

And the aim is not only to complete the demanding journey, but to arrive in time to support Ashton United in their away fixture in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division.

The fundraiser reflects the strong connection between Ashton United and its supporters, with the club and its supporters’ club continuing to raise money for causes both connected to football and the wider community.

The aim is to make kick-off at Leek.

The sponsored walk is open to donations, with supporters and members of the public encouraged to get behind the group and help them reach their fundraising target.

Donations can be made online through the supporters’ fundraising page at pay.collctiv.com/ashton-united-sponsored-walk-98769.

Cash donations are also welcome, while organisers are asking people to share the fundraiser and help spread the word ahead of the challenge.
