ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE town centre will become a dance floor at a family-friendly event with live music, interactive workshops and free crafts on offer.
The next Super Saturday event, titled ‘Dance to the Music!’, will take place in Fletcher Square on Saturday, September 19, from 11am to 3pm.
The free event will feature a mix of live performances and activities, including a taste of Manchester’s legendary Hacienda club culture.
Among the performers will be Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, a group of “mischievous northerners” who combine New Orleans Second Line music with their love of the Hacienda and 1990s club culture.
There will also be a chance to get involved with The Thingumajigs, who describe their music as “good time music” and aim to get audiences rocking, singing and dancing.
Mora & The Fabulous Wonderfuls will bring their blend of “righteous anthems & soul-lifting songs”, while Born and Bred Dance Theatre will invite visitors to make their own moves during an interactive movement workshop called Doodledance.
Families can also enjoy free craft activities from Tameside’s travelling emporium Phantasmagoria.
The event has been organised by Tameside Council’s Cultural Services team as part of its regular Super Saturday programme.
