Tameside Autumn Jobs Fair to offer hundreds of jobs and training opportunities

HUNDREDS of job and training opportunities will be on offer when Tameside’s Autumn Jobs Fair returns.

The free event will bring employers, training providers and local residents together at Dukinfield Town Hall on Wednesday, September 23.

Organised by Tameside Council’s Employment and Skills Team and sponsored by Northern Marking, the event from 10am to 1pm will feature hundreds of live vacancies across a range of sectors, with many jobs available to apply for on the day.

There will also be opportunities to find out about training and education, alongside practical support including CV and interview advice.

The fair is open to residents of all ages from Tameside and the surrounding area, with both full and part-time positions available.

Among the employers already confirmed are DWP Civil Service, Eastlands Venue Services, Jigsaw Homes, NHS Foundation Trust and Hyde Group, as well as several Tameside Council teams, including Engineering and Shared Lives.

The event could prove particularly useful for anyone looking to change career, return to work, gain new skills or simply explore what opportunities are available locally.

Unlike applying for jobs online, the fair gives jobseekers the chance to speak directly with employers and get advice about potential roles face-to-face.

The Employment and Skills Team will also be available throughout the event to offer support to those attending.

The jobs fair is held twice a year, with the spring event attracting more than 800 residents.

Organisers say a number of attendees secured employment as a direct result of meeting employers at the event, while feedback from visitors described the fair as having “lots of variety”, being “very well organised” and having “kind and informative” staff.

Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, Cllr Leanne Feeley, said: “The Autumn Jobs Fair is back and better than ever, with lots of brand new roles and training offers all in one place, following the success of our previous fairs.

“The jobs fairs do a fantastic job of helping residents along their career journeys, whether it’s getting hired, accessing training, or getting the support they need to take the next steps.

“I encourage anyone who is considering making a change or trying something new to come along and help us find the perfect opportunity for you.”

Residents can attend the Autumn Jobs Fair for free without an appointment.
