A 73-year-old woman from the Hyde area has been named as the victim of a fatal collision near Tintwistle.
Jean Higginbottom was driving a silver Renault Clio along Manchester Road when it was involved in a collision with a Nissan Pixo close to Millbrook House at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, August 19.
Police officers and paramedics attended, but despite the emergency response, Jean was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the Nissan, a man in his 20s who is also from the Hyde area, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been bailed while enquiries continue.
Derbyshire Police is continuing to appeal for witnesses and would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw the collision but has not yet spoken to officers.
Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage which may have captured the incident or the vehicles involved is also being urged to come forward.
