IT WAS not just one A-Level success for the Bridge family, but two – thanks to the A* Twins.
That is the tag picked up by Jess and Amelia after they gained great grades at Ashton Sixth Form College.
And even though they have heard it dozens of times, they are not tired of hearing it.
Jess and Amelia may live in Stalybridge, but they are former pupils of Fairfield High School for Girl after growing up in Droylsden.
The former earned n A* in Fine Art and the extended project qualification (EPQ), along with As in Maths and Biology and is off to study Architecture at Sheffield University.
The latter will take a course in Illustration at Edinburgh after gaining A*s in FIne Art and Graphics and As in Film and her EPQ.
And while their qualifications may be similar, they have designs on very different industries.
Jess said: “I think I wouldn’t mind going into Architecture, but I think I’ve picked it because it can be really expansive into other creative industries, so I’m just going to kind of see where it takes me.”
Amelia added: “Illustration is a really broad course, so you can go into freelance work, but also maybe into something to do with film, because I took film studies and I’ve always been interested in costume design.”
When it came to the nicknames, they both added about whether they are tired of it: “Not yet!
“It’s nice as we enjoyed the day, getting everyone saying congratulations, because you just feel so nervous beforehand.
“Everyone I know was like, ‘I hope I’ve done well.’ So, it’s nice just knowing and everyone going, ‘Congratulations,’ and not having to worry about anything.
“We were both up at the crack of dawn, going, ‘What’s going to happen? When we saw them, we were just like, ‘It’s really amazing.’”
Celebrations with friends followed, but not before Jess turned up for her work shift at Music Academy in Stalybridge.
Exam triumph also coincided with the birthday of good friend Hanna Jadzinska, who is off to Cambridge University.
And life at Ashton Sixth Form has made a big impression on both as they added: “It’s so nice.
We’ve made so many new friends whilst we’ve been here. All the teachers have been so supportive, especially our art.
“The art department’s amazing and I found it’s got so many good facilities, professional equipment here, which is so fun to play around with.
“It just gives you so much freedom. Everyone’s just so supportive and will just literally give you as many resources as you can possibly take.
“So, it’s just, it’s been amazing. We’ve really loved it.”
