VISITORS, patients and staff at Tameside Hospital have got the chance to shop from a range of independent traders at a new monthly market.
The first Tameside Hospital Market brought together local businesses offering everything from handmade gifts and aromatherapy products to homemade cooking pastes and knitted crafts.
Set up outside the entrance to the hospital in Ashton-under-Lyne, the recently-held market was organised by Tameside Council in partnership with Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Following the successful launch, the market is set to become a regular fixture, returning on Tuesday, July 28, from 10am to 2pm, and will then be held on the final Tuesday of every month.
An additional market will also take place as part of the hospital’s Pride celebrations on Friday, July 24, between 10am and 2pm.
Among the stalls at the launch were traders selling aromatherapy products, crochet and knitted gifts, homemade cooking pastes and a variety of other speciality items.
Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Towns, Transport and Connectivity, Cllr Stephen Homer, said: “It’s great to hear the first Tameside Hospital Market was a success. It is the perfect opportunity for visitors, staff and residents to come along, support local small businesses, have a browse, and enjoy the community spirit. We can’t wait to see even more people enjoying the future markets.”
