A CHARMING new independent café bringing together books, flowers, coffee and homemade food has opened in the heart of Ashton-under-Lyne.
Peony & Parchment, located on Market Avenue, officially welcomed its first customers on Wednesday, July 15, offering a unique concept that combines a café, florist, bookshop and community space all under one roof.

The business is the latest venture from the team behind the popular Food & Thorn Bistro, which has become a firm favourite with diners over the past four-and-a-half years.
After the success of the bistro and increasing demand, the owners decided to create something new for the town centre.
Stepping inside the vintage building, visitors are greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The beautifully designed pink interior, shelves of books, fresh flowers and cosy seating areas create the perfect place to relax, catch up with friends or simply enjoy some quiet time with a coffee.

As well as serving freshly brewed coffee and homemade treats, Peony & Parchment features a bloom bar where customers can choose their own flowers to create a bespoke bouquet. There is also a carefully selected gifting area, allowing visitors to take home a little piece of the café.
The menu offers a wide range of options throughout the day, including breakfasts, sandwiches, lunches, nibbles and tapas-style dishes, alongside a tempting selection of cakes and sweet treats.

The venue also aims to become a hub for the local community, with a programme of events planned throughout the year.
These include sip and paint evenings, posh bingo, baby book clubs, mums’ meet-ups and ‘Who Let the Dads Out?’ sessions, creating a welcoming space for people of all ages.
Having visited shortly after opening, it is easy to see why Peony & Parchment is already attracting attention. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the décor to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a place people will want to spend time in rather than simply grab a coffee and leave.
While I only stopped by for a drink on my visit, the food being served to other customers looked equally impressive, and I’ll certainly be returning to work my way through the menu and sample some of the homemade cakes.
Peony & Parchment is now open on Market Avenue in Ashton town centre.
