Urgent repair works are required to two sections of the boundary wall of St John’s church Godley. The first area is the west boundary wall between St John’s churchyard and the land which contains the scout hut. The other section is the boundary wall either side of the lychgate between St John’s churchyard and High Street (specifically from the west of the lychgate to the corner on High Street, and for a shorter distance from the east of the lychgate.)
The required works are likely to disturb graves within the churchyard of St Johns that are within 3 metres to the east of the wall between the church and the scout hut land, and that are within 3 metres to the north of the wall between the churchyard and High Street, Hyde, to the west and east of the lychgate as described above. Appropriate legal permission for these works is being sought and the advice of the Environmental Health Officer has been taken.
Any family members of those in the graves in that part of the churchyard closest to the boundary to the east of the scout hut land, and to the north of the boundary to the west and east of the lychgate at High Street in particular, or persons who are concerned by the prospect of works being carried out in St John’s churchyard generally are asked to please contact: The Diocesan Registry, Church House, 5500 Daresbury Park, Daresbury, Warrington WA4 4GE or by email to the Diocesan Registrar lisa.moncur@chester.anglican.org
