A new monthly artisan market is set to bring dozens of independent traders, live entertainment and family activities to Ashton-under-Lyne when it launches later this month.
Independent Street, the award-winning market operator behind the popular monthly artisan market at Glossop’s Old Market Hall, is bringing its successful formula to Ashton in partnership with Tameside Council.
The first Ashton Artisan Market will take place in Ashton on Sunday, July 19, from 11am until 4pm, with organisers promising a vibrant shopping experience showcasing some of the region’s best independent businesses.
The initiative forms part of a collaboration with Tameside Council to bring new events into Ashton and showcase the town’s newly created Market Square when complete
Around 60 artisan traders are expected to take part, offering everything from handmade crafts and jewellery to artisan food, homeware, sweet treats and unique gifts.
The launch event will also feature live music from Olly Flavell, free face painting for children and a free arts workshop hosted by local artist Mila, creating a family-friendly atmosphere alongside the shopping experience. The market will also be dog friendly and free to enter.
Independent Street has earned a strong reputation for championing small businesses through its artisan markets across the North West, with its monthly events at Glossop’s Old Market Hall proving a popular attraction for shoppers and visitors alike. Organisers are hoping to replicate that success in Ashton-under-Lyne by creating a regular destination market that supports local independent traders while encouraging more people into the town centre.
