Community groups receive boost to strengthen Tameside neighbourhoods

EIGHTEEN community groups across Tameside are celebrating after successfully securing funding through the annual Tameside Communities Grant events.

Hosted by Tameside Council’s Community Safety Partnership, the Tameside Communities Grant events gave local organisations the chance to pitch their ideas to residents and fellow community groups.

Funding is awarded to projects focused on empowerment, strengthening communities, preventing neighbourhood crime, and reducing harm and offending.

The first event, held on June 4 at New Chapel Unitarian Church, brought together community groups from the west wards of Denton, Audenshaw and Droylsden.

The events also provided an opportunity for groups to network, share ideas and learn more about the work being carried out across Tameside.

Councillor Stephen Homer, Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Towns, Transport and Connectivity, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many passionate community groups coming together to make a real difference across Tameside. These projects highlight the power of local people in creating safer, stronger and more connected neighbourhoods.

“Events like this not only provide funding but also give groups the opportunity to share ideas, build partnerships and support one another, which is just as important. Well done to all involved!”

The grants aim to help community organisations continue their work in making neighbourhoods across Tameside safer, more connected and supportive places to live.
