Person dies in Mossley house fire 

A MAN in his 80s has died in a house fire in Mossley. 

Emergency crews were called out to an address on Foxwood Drive at about 7.25pm on Monday, June 22.

Police vehicles blocked off nearby Carrhill Road, while ambulance personnel were also at the scene. 

And it has been revealed a man in his 80s died in the blaze.

One house was seen with a burnt-out roof above a window. 

In a statement, a Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 7.25pm on Monday, June 22, five fire engines from across Greater Manchester were called to attend a house fire on Foxwood Drive, Mossley. 

“Crews arrived quickly and used four hose reels and five breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. 

“Firefighters worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service and were in attendance for six hours.”

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson added: “Emergency services responded to an address on Foxwood Drive, Mossley following reports of a fire.

“Upon attendance, a man in his 80s was located unresponsive and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing.”
